RIP, my rockstar.

It is not often that you meet a person who turns your life around for the better. Mrs Rekha Srivastava was one such person for me. At 14, in class 8, I must have been the most troubled and troublesome child ever. I did and felt things that now only seem like angst-ridden teenage trouble, but in hindsight it still seems like one of the worst phases of my life. Mrs Srivastav gave Ma and me the gift of our lifetime - she made us best friends - she made sure Ma was one person I spoke to about everything, no matter how scandalous (for her) and petty (for me) it seemed. This friendship I have with my mother is a gift I will always be grateful to Mrs Rekha Srivastava for.

The style icon, the independent, interesting, intelligent woman of substance. She did not teach us how to knit or how to be the quintessential ladies, no. She taught us how to be ourselves. How to enjoy being ourselves.

I cannot really put to words what you meant to me, Miss. Because I have no words to express what you have done for me. I don't think I ever thanked you enough for it. The teacher, the guide, the friend, the icon, the "mender of relationships", the rockstar. RIP, Mrs Rekha Srivastava. You were and will always remain an icon for me.

Well written Tam. Was seeing the pic that Sister Beena had put up on FB. Realised what a huge impact these teachers were. Thanks to them, the women I know from NDA are the best I've ever come across! :)
